Bad Gym Junky

Moment of Style -
Tuesday, 12 July 2005

Bad gym clothes, I had my bad gym clothes on – you know ones. Faded, stretched and out of shape, the gym clothes that each time you wear them you say ‘This is the last time I’m wearing these old babies’. You see I believe there are two ‘bad gym clothes’ theories. One - they are so unflattering that they give you the motivation to work out because you look so bad in them that you really want to punish yourself for even putting them on. And two - they don’t give you any motivation because you have trouble even getting from the house to the car because you don’t want anyone to see you in them. I’m a firm believer in the second theory; I always try to look stylish and sophisticated even at the gym. What really lets me down is that sometimes I fail to be a firm believer in the must make time to wash your clothes theory. Anyway, this week I made the mistake of wearing my bad gym clothes one too many times. All my other gym clothes were dirty; all my nice, matching, flattering gym ensembles were in the dirty clothes basket. So I had no choice really I had to do it, it was either wear the bad outfit or don’t go at all. This time my desire to look like Kate Moss overcame my desire to look stylish.

Freezing Flesh Showers!

Moment of Style -
Thursday, 23 June 2005

Ok, so we have been lucky and maybe we have become a little complacent, we’ve gotten used to nice weather, warm weather and weather that we can wear two layers of clothes and possibly even get by without a stocking. Instead of weather that we need to dress from head to toe in nuclear strength thermo activated woollens, covered with the heaviest rug like coat and capped off with a set of mittens, scarf and hat or beanie (or even better a balaclava!) Yes, I agree balaclavas are not very stylish, unless of course you are robbing a bank, which in that case, it really does work, teamed with black you can’t go wrong. But what is even less stylish is freezing flesh showing humans waking down Swanston St . I get cold just looking at them. It’s not stylish it’s not sexy it’s just wrong.

Not Stylish

This week I was going to write about headbands - a headband ' Moment of Style' . I mean what could be more important than a headband at the moment? Well, now that I put it all in perspective a Gin and Tonic on a Friday night is pretty important, anyway, something happened and I now have something far more important to write.

The Importance of the Brow

Moment of Style -
Monday, 09 May 2005

Now, I know I am not telling you anything new when I write about the importance of the brow - the eyebrow. They can make or break a good face and they definitely need to be plucked or waxed or 'tidied up' (as many beauticians call it) so that they don't over take the entire upper section of your face leaving you feeling like reject from the rug factory or earning you the nickname "the mono-brow mama"

Toe Cleavage

Moment of Style -
Monday, 02 May 2005

Last Thursday night I had just slipped into one of my favourite outfits ( Saba pants, Nicola Finetti top, Cue belt and Jigsaw jacket) when I had my latest ' Moment of Style' . I was on my way to a dinner engagement, I was feeling pretty dam fine and just a little bit sexy, if I do say so myself. That's right you heard me say 'sexy' but no I wasn't showing any leg and there wasn't a plummeting neckline in sight, in fact not an ounce of bare flesh to be seen. I did, however, have a little cleavage - a little 'toe cleavage' that is! Toe cleavage is the hottest new look for your feet, you might think its crazy but believe me it is seriously sexy this season.

The Tram Man of Style

Moment of Style -
Tuesday, 26 April 2005

I was sitting in the city late last Saturday afternoon when I finally found some time to enjoy what I like to call 'wardrobe reflection' (I'd had a really busy week - only just having enough time to actually put clothes from my wardrobe on let alone reflect about them!) You see wardrobe refection is when I think about clothes. I think about my clothes, clothes I love, clothes I hate, clothes I just have to buy (or I might die) client's clothes, my partner's clothes and complete strangers clothes.
